We were visited by Irene between our last two meetings but we were really blown away by the talent and intelligence of our summer honorees. Thanks once again to Rich E. for his Foghorn words.

August 23 -

Our Student of the Week was Gwen Koontz, accompanied by her parents Ron and Jill. Walt explained that in her case we had saved the best for last. Gwen's resume is extensive so Walt summarized, In addition to having worked for the Beach Commission, she is an Honor Student, a member of Honor Societies too numerous to mention, and has taken a multitude of honor level courses. She is an outstanding tennis player, having been an Atlantic Coast all star. Her outside interests include piano, photography, and being a road race volunteer.

George P made the presentation of our College Scholarship check to Emerald Finneran, last year's winner of the $4,000 scholarship, who was accompanied by her mother Ollie. This was one of eight scholarship that Emerald won, but it was the largest. Emerald is attending Providence College and spent the Fall semester in Spain living with a family. It was a wonderful educational experience. She had her first internship in a hospital, and has moved her major to Health Policy. Emerald believes she would like to work in hospital management. Best of luck for your future studies!

August 30 -

Chester Kilfoyle is the class president and Fran suspects that he drives to school since the school bus doesn't stop there any more. Chester is glad to have lived through the renovations at the HS. His extracurriculars (he figured that would be more interesting than honor societies and AP classes) include Math team and Science team (he went to the State event this past year). He is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the Math Honor Society. He has been a member of the soccer team for all four years. Chester would like to go to a technical school - along the lines of MIT, RPI, WPI. Best of luck, Chester.

Ellen McDonald is the class VP and has been since sophomore year. She loves being a singer, dancer, and actor. Ellen has performed with the Falmouth Theatre Guild and appeared in Grease. She is a participant in the Best Buddies program. Ellen would like to attend Brown, Northwestern, or Chicago for their arts programs.

Ricky Moore is the class Sect/Treas and was accompanied by his mother Donna and sister Jill. He also has served in that role for two years. He is active on soccer, basketball, and tennis teams. He is a member of the FHS band. Ricky is interested in the service academies, or WPI and RIT.

What a great way to end our summer at JML!  Many thanks to Pete P. and his team for taking such good care of us.
